Woodland Park High School Student Samuel Faux traveled to New York City in October 2018 for the All American High School Film Festival. Out of several hundred featured films, his documentary "Twice Exceptional" was nominated for Best Documentary making it one of the top 10 in the country.

Samuel created the film as part of a program called Youth Documentary Academy in Colorado Springs when he was 14 (during the summer between his 8th and 9th-grade year). He has gone on to show his film and speak throughout the state at the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented Students annual conference, BEN Literacy Festival, Educating Children of Color Summit, Pikes Peak Community College, the ARC of Pikes Peak, and many educational conferences for Educators.

Through his advocacy work through his film and speaking engagements, he was awarded Achiever of the Year through the Arc Pikes Peak Region this past May 2019. Now as a collaboration between YDA and Rocky Mountain PBS, Samuel's film, along with other youth films from Colorado, will premiere in October and November in the series, "Our Time." Samuel's film will air in the episode on October 24 at 8:30 pm.
