Advisory

What is Advisory?

Every student deserves individual attention when it comes to their education and planning for their lives after graduation. Advisory is one way the staff at WPHS walks alongside our students on this path. Each teacher mentors a group of students throughout their high school career, exploring career options, academics, college opportunities, social-emotional learning, and navigating life skills such as financial preparedness. Most importantly, iCAP activities are built into the Advisory system; a new requirement for graduation starting with the class of 2020. Students, teachers, counselors, and parents will have access to the Naviance program, where students will track their iCap progress.

When is Advisory?

Students meet with their Advisory teachers four days a week, with focused lessons on a variety of topics on Mondays and Wednesdays, opportunities for academic assistance and growth on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
