We recognize that students may need extra time to master grade-level standards. Students will continue to build positive learning habits as they continue grade-level academic work. During this time, teachers will be proctoring exams, running workshops, and providing instruction as needed for the students; however, these courses are self-paced, so students may work on their courses at any time of the day but are expected to be in person during summer school hours.
There are 3 main options for courses in summer school
Credit recovery - continuation of a course or retaking a course
Original credit - taking the course for the first time
English/Math Enrichment for 8th graders rising to 9th grade to help get them ready for high school
Credit Recovery
This course is designed for students who have a “Not Yet”. These courses are completed online through Edgenuity.
This could be a continuation of REAL Platform, Online Course, or Standards-Based Grading course.
Students must satisfactorily complete the course for credit to earn a C.
Students may make up credit in a second class IF they successfully complete the first class.
Cost per course: $50
Original Credit
Designed for students who have not taken the course previously
Will be completed through our online program, Edgenuity
See the WPHS course catalog for a list of courses available

Expectations for Students Attending Summer School
It is advisable NOT to sign up for Summer School if work hours or family vacations conflict with Summer School dates.
Students are expected to attend in person. Masks are NOT required. However, if anyone in the household is experiencing symptoms of covid-19 or is sick in any way, please stay home. Students can work remotely if they are sick.
Money will NOT be refunded if a course is not completed, but they can continue the course throughout the summer and into the school year. All progress in courses is saved. However, there will be no teachers available to tutor or unlock tests after summer school ends until the new school year begins
Students do not have to attend all three weeks. When they complete their coursework, they no longer need to come to summer school.
