🌄 This week, our adventurous 4th and 5th graders embarked on an exciting journey up Pikes Peak. They experienced breathtaking views, learned about the local ecology, and made memories that will last a lifetime. We're so proud of our young explorers for embracing the great outdoors and all the lessons that nature teaches us.

🎶👏 Our combined middle school and high school choir has achieved something remarkable.🌟 In just 8 hours of rehearsal, they mastered two pieces of music, and on Saturday, they showcased their talent at Elitches. 🎤✨
🚀 Their performance earned a Superior rating, the highest honor possible--clinching 1st place in their division! 🏆🎵 To top it off, they were honored with the ESPRIT DE CORPS award for representing their school the best, showcasing professionalism, and exemplifying respect throughout their performance. 🙌🎖️
A huge shoutout to our dedicated choir members for their hard work and passion and to Choir Director Jeff Hemingson for his commitment and inspiration! 🎶👏 Go Panthers!!

Second grade students at Summit Elementary enjoyed hands-on lessons about Teller County history from volunteers through the Ute Pass Historical Society. Local history is part of our second grade standards, and this field trip concluded a quarter full of learning about the people who built the Ute Pass area. This was a field trip to remember. We appreciate all the docents for making it happen, as our students enjoyed living the history.

🎶 This morning, the talented Colorado Springs Children’s Choral graced us with a clinic right here at Gateway, working alongside our amazing choir students. The harmony was nothing short of magical! 🎵✨
🎤🎼 Join us at Columbine this evening, May 6th, at 6:30 PM for a combined elementary school performance and experience the joy of music brought to life by these incredible young voices. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a memorable night! 🌙

Congratulations to Summit's Destination Imagination teams. They competed at the regional competition last weekend. The 4th grade team got FIRST place in their Scientific challenge and the 5th/6th graders got SECOND place in their Technical challenge! Both teams will head to State in April!!!
Now, while this is super news, the best news is how hard they worked, persevered under pressure as a team, and how well they represented Summit! They were truly respectful, purposeful and made everyone PROUD 👏

After diving into the captivating world of Eric Carle's "The Very Busy Spider," some of our kindergarten students embarked on a thoughtful journey, reflecting on their own bustling school day activities. Embracing their inner creativity, they each selected a task that keeps them "very busy" and shared it using the sentence starter, "I am very busy..."

We're thrilled to congratulate all the amazing Gateway students who received a "shout out" during the month of January! 💚
As a special reward, these outstanding students got to putt for a prize! ⛳️🏆 Keep up the fantastic work, Gateway stars! 🌟👏
