Prom 2021

After a year of cancellations and uncertainty -WPHS is excited to announce that our Panthers will be celebrating a traditional HS spring event this year: Prom

WPHS and WPSD administrators have been working closely with the Junior Class leadership and the Student Council to build an event within the strict constraints of CoVid protocols established by the State of Colorado Health Department and local Teller County officials. The event’s eventuality is wholly contingent upon local CoVid numbers maintaining their current level or declining. Should Teller County move to “Orange or Red” on the precautions dial, it is likely that the event will be cancelled.

TENTATIVE approval has been granted given the following guidelines that the school and all attendees will adhere to:

  1. Prom will be held on May 1st with a back up date of May 8th from 8:00PM - 11:00PM at the High School. In the event of bad weather or the WPHS’ Volleyball team hosting a regional on May 1, the backup date of May 8th will be used. Determination of which date is the final selection will be determined by CHSAA’s regional site announcement (April 26th). Weather delay decisions will be made by 10:00AM on May 1st.
  2. The event will be held in the WPHS Gymnasium and Commons.
  3. The event is open to 2021 WPHS students only (Sr’s and Jr’s and their WPHS guests). 2021 early grads are included. No outside cohort attendees will be granted access.
  4. Advanced tickets ONLY. Friday, April 30th at school is the last day to purchase/pick-up tickets. Students who show up at Prom without a ticket will not be allowed entry. NO EXCEPTIONS. We will use these numbers to assist in controlling limited access to areas of the building - thereby remaining within event guidelines.
  5. Each attendee will fill out the CoVid screening form and have their temperature taken at the door.
  6. Each attendee will wear masks at all times while attending the event.
  7. Hors D'oeuvres will be served in the commons throughout the evening.
  8. WPHS staff will chaperone. A total of 20 adults will be present. Only those staff assigned will be allowed to attend. No outside volunteers.
  9. Students who leave will not be allowed re-entry.

Appropriate precautions will be taken to sanitize the utilized areas before and throughout the event.
