Info Friday

Info Friday is conducted twice a month, the 2nd and 4th Friday, through English classes. Counselors provide ICAP re-cap, SAT & ACT test dates, visiting college representatives and facts, sophomore, junior and senior checklists, and scholarship updates. We encourage you to speak with your child about what they learned during Info Fridays and how we can support them in reaching their post-secondary goals after high school.

COLLEGE VISITS

All students requesting to be excused for a college visit MUST SEE your counselor PRIOR to the date of your visit in order for it to be considered an excused absence. This is especially important for seniors with the attendance policy in place regarding unexcused absences and the ability to attend senior activities.

Schedule Change Procedure

Woodland Park High School students are encouraged to carefully consider their course selections since opportunities to change classes are very limited. The number of times a class is offered is determined by the number of students who select that class during registration so there is little room for change in the schedule. Many class sections are full at the beginning of the year and some scheduling conflicts cannot be resolved. Classes are offered only if there is sufficient room.

Schedule changes will be made during the following dates and times:

The first day of school through the end of the 5th day of attendance each semester from:

  • 7:15am – 7:40am
  • student lunchtime
  • 3:10pm – 3:45pm
  • Students will not be allowed out of class during the school day for schedule changes

Acceptable reasons for making a schedule change during the allotted time frame:

  • Change in post-secondary plans that requires a certain course change
  • Error on schedule
  • Incomplete schedule
  • Unresolved class conflicts
  • Failure of a class or prerequisite
  • Moving from one weight of a course to a higher or lower weight. This may occur only during the first nine weeks of each semester if the change is teacher and/or administratively initiated.
  • If a student receives an “F” as a Fall semester grade for a course, the student may drop the course provided there is an opening in another class during the same period
  • Administrative approval

Schedules will not be changed for the following reasons:

  • Lunch period change
  • Teacher change
  • Requesting a particular class during a particular period

Requests for late arrival or early dismissal for seniors will be honored if the request does not conflict with a required class and the computer scheduling process is able to accommodate the request.
