Principal Message

Dear Families, Friends, Newcomers, and Guests,

Welcome! Let me begin by introducing myself! I am Principal Ashley Lawson and I am thrilled to welcome you to Gateway Elementary School. Throughout each school year, I forward to meeting new faces and revisiting with familiar ones. For those of you who have not met me, I have been in education for 30 years, I am a National Board Certified Instructor, and this is my 4th year as the Principal of Gateway Elementary School. I am incredibly passionate about my work, about children, and about the family of Gateway.

On this website, you will find our vision, mission and core beliefs, but I want to give you a more personal look into the heart of Gateway. We are devoted to ensuring that each and every child has a deep, meaningful connection to the adults here at school. We know that connected students perform better, but our purpose goes beyond what research shows. Our purpose has at its heart a genuine love for students and care for their well-being. We believe—and we demonstrate every day—that students must have their emotional, social, physical, and sensory needs met before they can be successful students and you will see us caring for all students and all their needs. No child enters or leaves Gateway without a sign of love!! It’s just who we are.

As principal of Gateway, I am dedicated to ensuring that your child is loved and that your child is accepted. I am dedicated to ensuring that each student has the best teacher and the best opportunities to grow socially, academically, and emotionally. I am dedicated to providing rich opportunities for students so that they learn who they are, what they are passionate about, and how they learn best. In this way, I believe that students are greater for being a part of the Gateway family.

Welcome to the family that is Gateway! I look forward to beginning a relationship with those who are new and continuing relationships with those who are already part of our family.
